The City of Austin Employees’ Retirement System (COAERS) is currently seeking candidates for the position of IT Security Analyst. The position will be responsible for monitoring, assessing, and mitigating the organization’s vulnerability to security threats. The position will use security software and tools to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities for the organization. In addition, the position will monitor the security posture of vendors and third parties. The position will develop security policies, procedures, and controls to memorialize the organization’s approach to security threats. The position will also be involved in risk management, penetration testing, internal phish testing, and provisioning and reviewing user access.

COAERS offers a hybrid remote work schedule meaning this position will work in an office as well as remotely.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a field related to the job.

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The successful candidate will possess an advanced knowledge of networking security; cybersecurity; systems administration; PII data security standards; security hardware; security infrastructure; security software; risk management; and penetration testing. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to be a self-starter; team player; communicate effectively; identify risks; work with others successfully; manage projects, adapt quickly; and be able to follow directions and remain aligned with organizational objectives.

Compensation

The starting salary will likely be between $80,000 to $95,000 annually with the actual salary corresponding to the experience level and credentials of the candidate within the parameters of public sector compensation. An excellent benefits package is available, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and sick and vacation leave.
