By proceeding you agree that you have read and understand the following terms and conditions of using the COAERS Website Calculators.
The calculators do not use any individual member’s official COAERS or City of Austin information or records. The calculators only use the data that the user enters.
Once used, the calculators do not retain any of the data entered or the results provided.
The calculations contained in the calculators are based upon the laws and policies applicable to COAERS in existence as of January 1, 2015, and are subject to change based upon changes in law or policy subsequent to that date without notice.
While every attempt has been made to ensure the accuracy of the calculations, COAERS does not guarantee the result provided and is not responsible for any result the calculators produce for any reason whatsoever. COAERS reserves the right to correct any errors contained herein to comply with federal or state statutes, rules and policies that govern the Plan.
The results the calculators provide are ESTIMATES. The ESTIMATES are not be to construed in anyway as a promise or contract with COAERS to pay a specified benefit amount, guarantee a specific retirement eligibility date, set a specific amount for a purchase of service or a conversion of sick leave, nor provide any expressed or implied right or benefit. Moreover, no one shall be entitled to claim detrimental reliance on any information the calculator provides. Annuity amounts provided by the calculators do not include any post retirement adjustment, including, but not limited to a Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA).
COAERS provides the calculators as a service to all of its members. However, an individual member’s circumstances and/or assumptions about future events may make the results of the calculators inaccurate. The actual determination of eligibility, benefits, service purchase costs, and sick leave conversion costs will be made by the COAERS staff based upon the law and COAERS policies in effect at that time and is subject to audit and recomputation if necessary.
The information provided in the calculators is not intended to be legal, investment, or tax advice. Members who are rolling in funds from another retirement account are responsible for insufficiencies in funds used to make a purchase of service due to market fluctuations. The Internal Revenue Code sets limits on the amount of money a member can put into and receive from our type of plan. Members should consult with a COAERS staff member and/or tax professional prior to making any final decisions with respect to their COAERS benefits.
